MAGNETIC TOUR | November 2016

Dan Sultan will be hitting the road again this November for his ‘Magnetic Tour’, with headline shows in Fremantle, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

The news comes with a teaser to the very first taste of new music from the indigenous Australian singer/songwriter’s highly anticipated fourth LP due for release in 2017. Titled ‘Magnetic’, the teaser alludes to a seemingly new direction for Sultan. ‘Magnetic’ is a fierce attack of soul-pop, as interested in delivering unfiltered emotion as it is a charging chorus.

It’s a clear-headed missive from a man at the top of his game. Not content to ride the coattails of his third record, Blackbird, which took out the award for Best Rock Album at the 2014 ARIA Awards as well as a slew of NIMA and AIR gongs, Sultan took inspiration from the innovative pop landscape to take his honest storytelling into uncharted territory.

Sultan describes his approach to song-writing succinctly: “If there’s fear then you’re onto the right thing.”

“It’s about having too much of a good thing,” Sultan says, explaining the song’s lyrics. “It’s about excess, basically, in all its forms. But it’s also about getting older, and about being more comfortable in my own skin.”

Sultan will hit the road in full band mode to tour ‘Magnetic’ in November, taking in capital cities to give audiences a taste of his new material as well as a selection from his rollicking catalogue. Catch Sultan and his band on the following dates:

With special guests Caiti Baker & Morgan Bain ^(not performing at Fremantle Festival)

Reclink Community Cup

A draw between the Rockdogs and the Megahertz at the Reclink Community Cup in Melbourne this year. Proud to have been the captain of the Rockdogs (I swapped jerseys with Maddy Mac in the photo), for such a great cause.

The Reclink Community Cup is an annual charity footy game played annually in all of the major cities between musicians (Rockdogs) and the media (Megahertz or Anchors), all in the name of raising funds and awareness for Reclink Australia, which supports disadvantaged people through Arts and Sports.

Thanks to everyone that came, and made the game so special.
